Megalithic Mountain
Slieve Gullion mountain is steeped in ancient history with the highest surviving passage grave in Ireland on its summit. At the court yard, pupils become archaeologists and complete a 'dig' to discover genuine Mesolithic and Neolithic flint tools and artifacts. They discover how the clues left behind thousands of years ago can help us understand what life was like for early man. Walking through the forest, the children learn how to be a Mesolithic Hunter and make a Mesolithic hut and build a Neolithic passage grave.
